In mezzo ai campi, vicino allo stagno del "Vieux pré" e alla fattoria di Fossieux, questo monumento, vicino al monumento di Noërs, è stato eretto in memoria dei soldati francesi e tedeschi caduti sul campo di battaglia il 23 e 24 agosto 1914 durante la battaglia di Longuyon-Noërs
La battaglia causò la perdita di circa 3.800 soldati francesi, di cui 900 uccisi, e di circa 2.500 soldati tedeschi, di cui 600 uccisi. L'avanzata tedesca fu rallentata ma non fermata.
