La Camera dei comuni è eletta a suffragio universale e con il sistema maggioritario. I suoi membri durano in carica fino a che la Camera non viene sciolta per le nuove elezioni, cosa che avviene entro un massimo di cinque anni dall'ultima elezione. Ogni membro è eletto e rappresenta un distretto elettorale chiamato "constituency" .
