Era stata aperta fino a Reading il 30 marzo 1840; il 1 giugno 1840 fu aperta fino a Steventon, con tre stazioni intermedie, la più settentrionale delle quali era Wallingford Road; probabilmente inizialmente si chiamava Moulsford, essendo stata rinominata entro dicembre 1840.
