L'isola di Arran è la più grande isola del Firth of Clyde, in Scozia, e con un'area di 432 km² è la settima più grande isola scozzese. Dal punto di vista amministrativo si trova nell'area di governo locale dell'Ayrshire Settentrionale e secondo il censimento del 2001 aveva una popolazione residente di 5 058 abitanti. Sebbene comunemente associata alle Ebridi, con le quali condivide molte somiglianze fisiche e culturali, queste isole in realtà sono collocate a nord-ovest dall'altro lato della Penisola di Kintyre. Arran è completamente montuosa ed è stata descritta come il "paradiso dei geologi".
