Derùta è un comune italiano di 9 451 abitanti della provincia di Perugia, noto per la produzione delle ceramiche artistiche. Posta su una collina situata a 15 chilometri da Perugia e a 150 da Roma, è inserita fra i borghi più belli d'Italia.
L'origine più probabile del toponimo è il latino díruta, participio passato di diruere, ovvero: abbattuta, rovinata e franosa, scoscesa. Da queste ultime accezioni sembra aver avuto origine il nome Déruta.
