Il comune si componeva del capoluogo Forno e delle frazioni Astragal, Bragarezza, Calchera, Campo, Casal, Cella, Cercenà, Col, Colcerver, Cornigian, Dont, Dozza, Foppa, Fornesighe, Pieve, Pra, Pradel, Pralongo, Sommariva, Sotto le Rive, Sottorogno e Villa.
Forno di Zoldo si trova all'inizio della val di Zoldo, considerando che il tratto compreso tra Longarone e il lago di Pontesei è più precisamente detto canal del Maè. Si estende sulle due rive del torrente Maè, nel punto in cui esso accoglie da sinistra le acque del Gat e da destra quelle della Malisia e del Prampera .
