Aquileia è un comune italiano di 3 138 abitanti dell'ente di decentramento regionale di Udine, in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Colonia romana fondata nel 181 a.C., fu capitale della X regione augustea e metropoli della chiesa cristiana.
Insieme con Ravenna e Brescia è il più importante sito archeologico dell'Italia settentrionale, e con Cividale del Friuli e Udine è stata una delle capitali storiche del Friuli, il cui vessillo deriva proprio dallo stemma di Aquileia.
