Primo comune a nord ovest della penisola flegrea, situato sul golfo di Pozzuoli, comprende le antiche località greco-romane di Baia, Fusaro, Miseno, una parte di Cuma, nonché Miliscola , sede della flotta pretoria degli imperatori romani. Il comune ospita anche il lago Fusaro con la casina Vanvitelliana.
