Operazione Quercia fu il nome in codice di una missione militare eseguita durante la seconda guerra mondiale e portata a termine il 12 settembre 1943 dai paracadutisti tedeschi della 2. Fallschirmjäger-Division e da alcune SS del Sicherheitsdienst, essa era finalizzata alla liberazione di Benito Mussolini, imprigionato a Campo Imperatore, sul Gran Sasso, per ordine di Pietro Badoglio dopo l'armistizio di Cassibile.
Il ministro Albert Speer, nel suo libro Memorie del Terzo Reich, ricorda la reazione di Adolf Hitler alla notizia dell'arresto di Mussolini, descritta come una sorta di "fedeltà nibelungica": "Non c'era gran rapporto in cui il Führer non chiedesse che fosse fatto tutto il possibile per ritrovare l'amico disperso. Diceva di essere oppresso giorno e notte dall'angoscia".
