Il Grande Oriente d'Italia è un'obbedienza massonica istituita ritualmente il 20 giugno 1805 a Milano. È chiamata anche Grande Oriente d'Italia - Palazzo Giustiniani, dal nome dell'omonimo palazzo in via della Dogana Vecchia in Roma, sede dell'organizzazione dal 1901 al 1985, tranne che durante il ventennio fascista. È la più antica e numerosa istituzione massonica italiana, con oltre 23.000 iscritti, e ha sede a Roma presso Il Vascello, sul Gianicolo, teatro nel 1849 della difesa garibaldina della Repubblica Romana.
Il 16 marzo 1805 è la data nella quale venne ufficialmente fondato a Milano il Supremo Consiglio d'Italia del Rito scozzese antico ed accettato, per opera del conte francese Alexandre François Auguste de Grasse Tilly. Egli agì in virtù dei poteri conferitigli dal Supremo Consiglio di Charleston ; con lui vi erano altri confratelli francesi ed italiani.
