In fisica delle particelle, Borexino è un esperimento scientifico volto allo studio dei neutrini solari a bassa energia realizzato in Italia, presso i Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso, nei pressi dell'Aquila. L'esperimento è finanziato da un consorzio internazionale di istituti di ricerca e università italiani, statunitensi, tedeschi, francesi, polacchi e russi, tra cui l'INFN e la NSF. Nel maggio 2017, Borexino raggiunse 10 anni di operazioni, dall'inizio della sua presa dati nel 2007.
Il nome BOREXino deriva da BOREX , di cui è una versione più piccola. Inizialmente progetto BOREX prevedeva la costruzione di un rivelatore di 1 kT di massa fiduciale, ma alla fine fu costruita una versione più piccola, di 100 tonnellate, focalizzata sulla estrema radio-purezza in tutti i suoi componenti interni: BOREXino.
