Il lago di Bolsena o Volsinio è un lago dell'Italia centrale, posto nell'alto Lazio, nella parte settentrionale della provincia di Viterbo . Formatosi oltre 300 000 anni fa in seguito al collasso calderico di alcuni vulcani del complesso dei monti Volsini che ha accompagnato lo sprofondamento vulcano-tettonico dell'area, è lambito per una parte considerevole dalla strada consolare Cassia, a pochi chilometri dal monte Amiata, ed è il lago di origine vulcanica più grande d'Europa.
