Viterbo è un comune italiano di 66 016 abitanti capoluogo dell'omonima provincia nel Lazio settentrionale, nota anche come Tuscia viterbese.
Di antiche origini etrusche, presenta un vasto centro storico medievale, con il quartiere di San Pellegrino ben conservato, e cinto da mura quasi perfettamente integre. Viterbo è conosciuta come la città dei Papi: alla fine del XIII secolo fu infatti sede pontificia e per 24 anni il Palazzo Papale ospitò e vide eleggere diversi pontefici. È celebre come città termale e vi ha sede l'Università degli Studi della Tuscia.
