Lo Stompert si trova, proprio come i Vlasakkers, su un crinale dell'Utrechtse Heuvelrug che si estende da est a ovest. È un'area con molto rilievo che è stata chiaramente influenzata dai ghiacciai nelle ere glaciali. Hanno spinto sabbia di fiume davanti a loro e l'hanno sollevata qui.
Il punto naturale più alto dello Stompert è di 51 metri sopra il livello del mare (fonte: Tangible Time, atlante culturale e storico della provincia di Utrecht).
Ci sono una serie di tumuli funerari nell'area. L'area era relativamente alta e quindi adatta per scavare.
Nel 1882 fu costruita sulla Stompert la 'stazione di pompaggio dell'acqua' con un serbatoio d'acqua nel punto più alto dell'area.
Nel 1949 passò sotto l'amministrazione militare. L'area è ancora di proprietà del Ministero della Difesa, ma è stata liberamente accessibile al pubblico dal 1992.
