Il nome Brunssummerheide viene utilizzato per una riserva naturale di circa 600 ettari dell'Associazione Natuurmonumenten; in particolare si tratta della cosiddetta Schrieversheide. D'altra parte, si chiama così anche l'area ricreativa di circa 1800 ettari in cui si trova questa riserva naturale. L'area ricreativa 'Brunssummerheide' si trova nella provincia di Limburgo, nel sud-est del comune di Brunssum e dei comuni limitrofi di Heerlen e Landgraaf. L'uso ricreativo comprende tra l'altro camminare, andare in bicicletta, giocare a golf e andare a cavallo. Inoltre, c'è un osservatorio astronomico e nell'area si trova anche la Landgraaf Brunssummerheide, una fortificazione lunga oltre un chilometro.
