Si trova a nord-ovest di Lemmer e a nord-est di Sloten. Intorno all'area del paese si trovano il Slotermeer, il Brandemeer, il Groote Brekken e il Koevordermeer. Nel 2021 il villaggio contava 350 abitanti. All'interno del comune c'è anche il borgo di Spannenburg. Attraverso quel borgo scorre anche il canale Prinses Margriet. Nonostante si trovi vicino a molti laghi, il paese non possiede un proprio porto.
