Geesteren è un villaggio nel comune di Tubbergen nella provincia olandese di Overijssel. Geesteren conta 4.325 abitanti. Il villaggio ha un carattere prevalentemente cattolico romano. Il luogo appartiene al tipo dei villaggi sparsi. Nel 1268 il villaggio venne già menzionato come Geysteren. Gli abitanti dovevano sopportare, nei tempi antichi, il soprannome Papsleefn, anche se questo viene visto da alcuni Geesternaren come un nome di battaglia. L'associazione locale del carnevale è stata chiamata con questo soprannome. Nei dintorni del villaggio ci sono numerose, spesso grandi e antiche fattorie, che testimoniano un'esistenza contadina fiorente, soprattutto in passato. Fattorie storiche si possono trovare lungo la Bragersweg, la Huyerenseweg e la Meyersweg.
