Questa chiesa doveva essere la più grande chiesa dei Paesi Bassi, ma non è mai stata completata. I lavori iniziarono nel 1417. Nel 1456 ci fu un grande incendio e nel 1482 i soldi finirono e si smise di costruire. Solo la navata era pronta. Brielle è riconoscibile da lontano per il suo campanile tronco di 57 metri della chiesa di St. Catharijne. Dopo il 1572, questa chiesa parrocchiale passò in mano protestante. Oggi vi si riunisce la comunità PKN.
