Diese Kirche war ursprünglich die größte Kirche Hollands, wurde jedoch nie vollendet. Der Bau begann 1417. 1456 gab es einen großen Brand und 1482 war das Geld aufgebraucht, sodass man mit dem Bau aufhörte. Nur das Langhaus war fertig. Brielle ist von weitem an dem 57 Meter hohen, stumpfen Turm der St. Catharijnekerk zu erkennen. Nach 1572 kam diese Pfarrkirche in protestantliche Hände. Heute versammelt sich dort die PKN-Gemeinde.
