Il "Grote Plas" è nato negli anni '60 del XX secolo grazie all'estrazione di sabbia per la costruzione di alcuni nuovi quartieri residenziali nei dintorni. Accanto all'acqua si trova ora il parco ricreativo Delfse Hout con, tra l'altro, un parco per cervi, una fattoria didattica con area giochi d'acqua, una spiaggia e un campeggio. Diverse piste ciclabili e sentieri attraversano l'area, quindi sentitevi liberi di deviare dalla rotta GPX.
