La stazione è stata messa in servizio all'inizio del programma di orari del 2008, il 9 dicembre 2007. La stazione è stata costruita per servire la parte orientale di Heerlen. All'apertura della stazione, tutti i treni si fermavano alla stazione, ma a partire da dicembre 2015, la fermata dei treni DB diretti a Herzogenrath/Aquisgrana è stata soppressa.
