Quando arrivi, puoi già vedere da lontano il mulino a vento del 1841 e la chiesa riformata olandese del 1612. L'originale IJzendijke [Iezendieke] in West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen fu inghiottita dal mare oltre cinquecento anni fa. Grazie al duca di Parma, il luogo riemerse, alcuni chilometri più in là, sotto forma di un'opera di difesa.
Principe Maurizio
Nel 1604, durante la Guerra dei Trent'Anni, il Principe Maurizio scacciò gli spagnoli dalla “loro” fortezza Ysendijck e fece immediatamente riparare le opere di difesa. Oggi puoi trovare il Principe Maurizio nella suggestiva Piazza, seduto dietro una scacchiera, pensando alla prossima mossa strategica.
