Lungo la Hogeweg si incontrano ancora piccole casette dei torfatori e mulini ad acqua 'tjasker' che drenavano le torbiere. Il mulino ad acqua Tjasker è un semplice mulino di polder con una grande ruota su una lunga vite diagonale. Venivano utilizzati per l'estrazione della torba per drenare i fossi e servono ancora a mantenere il livello delle acque sotterranee nei campi di canna.
