La stazione di Assen è la stazione ferroviaria di Assen, aperta il 1 maggio 1870. L'edificio originale della stazione è stato progettato dall'architetto Karel van Brederode e costruito nel 1868. Apparteneva a una versione rinnovata del tipo standard SS di terza classe.
Dal 1905 al 1947 c'è stato anche trasporto passeggeri lungo la linea ferroviaria per Stadskanaal. Questa linea è stata smantellata nel 1977. Fonte: Wikipedia
Il contesto della stazione ad Assen è stato completamente rinnovato. Nel 2016 ProRail ha avviato i lavori di ristrutturazione. I lavori ferroviari sono stati completati nel 2017. A febbraio 2020 la nuova stazione di Assen è stata inaugurata in modo festoso. ProRail ha costruito un nuovo edificio della stazione, insieme a NS e al comune di Assen. Il nuovo edificio della stazione è spazioso, sostenibile e ancora più accessibile. Questo è dovuto ai nuovi ascensori, scale più larghe e al nuovo tunnel, con ingresso sul lato est. Fonte: ProRail
