Abcoude-Proostdij era un feudo della proosdij di San Pietro a Utrecht nel nord-ovest dell'attuale provincia di Utrecht.
All'inizio del XIX secolo divenne un comune che oltre al villaggio di Abcoude comprendeva le frazioni di Proostdij, Aasdom e Achterbos. Proostdij e Achterbos sono stati successivamente uniti a Vinkeveen.
