Per i primi coloni, il moor era spesso fonte di inquietanti leggende e racconti - oggi nessuno si perde più qui. Perché diversi punti di accesso fungono da "Moorpforten" e facilitano l'entrata nel parco naturale: Il Museo del Moos dell'Emsland a Groß Hesepe, il Veenpark a Barger-Compascuum, il Museo del Petrolio e del Gas a Twist e il Veenloopcentrum a Weiteveen offrono l'esperienza del moor non solo in interessanti mostre, ma forniscono anche informazioni aggiuntive, come materiale cartografico o suggerimenti per itinerari. In altri quattro punti informativi - Van Gogh Huis, Collectie Brands, Smalspoormuseum e Bienenzentrum - i visitatori vengono informati su particolarità legate al moor, ad esempio sulla vita e le opere del famoso pittore che ha utilizzato il moor come ispirazione per numerose opere.
