La battaglia di Braga si svolse il 20 marzo 1809 tra l'Impero francese e il Regno del Portogallo durante la Guerra di Indipendenza spagnola.
Gli inglesi ottennero una vittoria tattica contro i francesi nella battaglia di A Coruña, ma la flotta britannica evacuò presto l'esercito dalla Spagna. Poiché gli inglesi se ne erano andati, il maresciallo Nicolas Jean-de-Dieu Soult pianificò un'invasione del Portogallo. Attraverso Ourense, i francesi invasero il paese e furono i primi a conquistare la città di Chaves. L'esercito francese attese alcuni giorni prima di marciare ulteriormente verso Braga. Nel frattempo, i portoghesi in rivolta uccisero il loro generale Bernardim Freire de Andrade, dopo di che il Barone von Eben assunse il comando. Soult riuscì a sconfiggere l'esercito portoghese a Braga senza troppi sforzi. Soult marciò poi verso Porto, dove si svolse la battaglia successiva.
