Il Pelourinho de Vila Real è un monumento storico che simboleggia l'autonomia giudiziaria e amministrativa della città.
Fu fondata nel 1515 , anno in cui Vila Real ricevette un nuovo statuto cittadino ( foral ) dal re D. Manuel I. Sebbene il pelourinho originale sia andato in gran parte perduto, la struttura attuale è una ricostruzione che conserva la colonna ottagonale originale.
Il pelourinho è interamente realizzato in granito e poggia su una base di quattro gradini ottagonali . In cima alla colonna si trova una "gaiola" (gabbia) a quattro lati con archi a tutto sesto su entrambi i lati. Agli angoli di questa gabbia si trovano piccole colonne cilindriche, e il tutto è coronato da una croce in ferro battuto con un gagliardetto.
