Il rapimento di Norrmalmstorg si è svolto in Svezia nel 1973 ed è stata l'occasione per il termine sindrome di Stoccolma. Ci fu un "sequestro" che durò circa 5 giorni.
Il 23 agosto 1973, Jan Erik "Janne" Olsson, in permesso dalla prigione, entrò nella Kreditbanken nella piazza Norrmalmstorg nel centro di Stoccolma. La polizia fu subito chiamata. Quando due agenti entrarono, Olsson aprì il fuoco. Un poliziotto rimase ferito e all'altro fu ordinato di sedersi su una sedia e "cantare qualcosa". Scegliò la canzone "Lonesome Cowboy". Olsson prese quattro ostaggi e chiese che il suo amico Clark Olofsson fosse portato da lui, insieme a 3 milioni di corone svedesi, due pistole, giubbotti antiproiettile, caschi e un'auto veloce.
