La Slovenia, ufficialmente Repubblica di Slovenia , è uno stato sovrano dell'Europa centrale, confinante a ovest con l'Italia, a nord con l'Austria, a est con l'Ungheria e a sud con la Croazia; si affaccia a sud-ovest sul mare Adriatico .
La sua capitale è Lubiana.
Dal 1º maggio 2004 la Slovenia è membro dell'Unione europea e la valuta nazionale, dal 1º gennaio 2007, è l'euro, che ha sostituito il tallero, adottato nel 1991 dopo l'indipendenza; in precedenza la moneta era il dinaro jugoslavo.
