La battaglia di Shiloh, conosciuta anche come battaglia di Pittsburg Landing, fu uno dei maggiori conflitti nell'ambito del Teatro Occidentale della guerra di secessione americana, avvenuto tra il 6 e il 7 aprile del 1862 nel Tennessee Sud-occidentale.
Un esercito dell'Unione, conosciuto come Armata del Tennessee, composto da 44 894 effettivi e sotto il comando del Maggior generale Ulysses S. Grant si mosse dal fiume Tennessee verso meridione accampandosi presso "Pittsburg Landing" nella Contea di Hardin sulla riva occidentale del fiumeː verrà poi supportato dall'Armata dell'Ohio composta da 17.918 effettivi.
