Il Volo United Airlines 585 era un volo di linea della United Airlines tra Peoria, Illinois e Colorado Springs, Colorado, con scali a Moline, Illinois e Denver, Colorado. Il 3 marzo 1991 il Boeing 737-291 che operava il volo si è schiantato durante l'avvicinamento alla pista 35 dell'aeroporto di Colorado Springs, uccidendo tutte le 25 persone a bordo.
L'aereo decollò da Denver alle 9:23 per compiere l'ultima tratta del suo viaggio. I piloti si stavano preparando per un approccio visuale alla pista 35 quando l'aereo si inclinò improvvisamente verso destra e cominciò a cadere in picchiata. L'equipaggio di condotta tentò inutilmente di recuperare l'assetto estendendo i flaps ed aumentando la spinta dei motori, ma il velivolo acquistò sempre più velocità ed impattò con il terreno quasi verticalmente.
