L'Università Johns Hopkins è un'università degli Stati Uniti. Si tratta di un Istituto Universitario privato di Baltimora nel Maryland, fondato nel 1876 durante la presidenza di Ulysses S. Grant, grazie al lascito di 7 milioni di dollari donati dall'uomo d'affari statunitense Johns Hopkins. Successivamente, nel 1893, lo stesso lascito finanziò l'apertura del Johns Hopkins Hospital destinato anche a una facoltà di medicina. L'Università Johns Hopkins è organizzata in 10 divisioni: nei campus nel Maryland e Washington, con centri internazionali in Italia, Cina e Singapore.
L'istituzione è definita come la prima "università di ricerca" del paese. All'inizio della sua storia l'università è sempre stata ispirata principalmente dall'Università di Heidelberg e dal modello di insegnamento tedesco secondo Wilhelm von Humboldt.
