Koning Louis XVIII van Frankrijk zocht onderdak voor 100 dagen in het huis Hotel d'Hane Steenhuyse nadat Napoleon terugkeerde van Elba. Louis XVIII verbleef buiten Frankrijk tot Napoleon verslagen werd. In de volksmond werd Louis XVIII "Louis die zwiet" genoemd omdat hij met zijn corpulente lichaam behoorijk wat zweette.
