Over de brug komt u de "Dochter van de Maas" binnen, waar links de Grand Place ligt met zijn vele hotels en restaurants. De stad is waarschijnlijk naar de rivier de Hoyoux genoemd die vroeger het heldere water leverde dat nodig was voor de wol- en lederbewerking. Ook zorgde de rivier voor de aandrijving van molens. Hoei is een van de oudste steden van België en een rustpunt in uw tocht. Met een beetje overleg mag u misschien even op de Grote Markt bij het "Bassinia", een van de vier wonderen van Huy, uit 1406 parkeren. Als u te voet de weg naar het fort en naar la Sarte neemt, dan klimt u door eeuwen geschiedenis en krijgt u een uitzonderlijk uitzicht over de Maas en de vele monumenten van Huy.
