In 1967 geven Jules en Irma Dhondt-Dhaenens architect Erik Van Biervliet de opdracht een modernistisch gebouw op te trekken vlak bij hun huis. Ze willen er hun eigen kunstcollectie onderbrengen, maar tegelijk moet het ook een plek worden waar culturele en artistieke activiteiten plaats kunnen vinden.
Ondertussen is het gebouw een museum geworden waar belangrijke privéverzamelingen van moderne en hedendaagse kunst ontsloten worden en daarnaast ook een kunstencentrum dat een belangrijke rol speelt in de internationale kunstwereld.
*Openingsuren: open van woensdag tot zondag 10u tot 17u (zomer: 10u tot 18u). Gesloten op maandag, dinsdag, tijdens af- en opbouw van tentoonstellingen, op 24-25/12 en 31/12 & 01/01.
