Emelgem is een dorp in de Belgische provincie West-Vlaanderen en een deelgemeente van de stad Izegem. Emelgem was een zelfstandige gemeente tot einde 1964. Op dat ogenblik had Emelgem een oppervlakte van 5,44 km² en telde ze 5049 inwoners.
Reeds in de oudheid was Emelgem bewoond. Getuige hiervan zijn verscheidene prehistorische vondsten zoals bewerkte vuurstenen uit het neolithicum. Verder werden er ook Romeinse en Merovingische vondsten aangetroffen.
