Deze voormalige gebouwen van de G.K.F. Company (Gérard Koninckx Frères - groothandel in exotisch fruit) zijn een prachtig voorbeeld van de architectuur uit 1920 - 1930, ontworpen door de architect Eguenge Dhuicque (Brussel 1877 - 1955). Hij studeerde aan de Brusselse Academie voor Schone Kunsten en bij de architecten Janlet in Brussel en Selmersheim in Parijs. Hij ontwierp veel industriële gebouwen. Ze werden allemaal gerealiseerd met dezelfde zorg voor details.
De structuur van het gebouw is gemaakt van gewapend beton, dat in deze periode veel werd gebruikt. Het gebruik van de façade voor reclame is typisch voor deze tijd.
De gemengde functie van het gebouw (huis/hendel/depot) was niet ongebruikelijk in de nabijheid van het kanaal en toont de wens om het beschikbare oppervlak in de stad optimaal te benutten.
