Deze kerk is een nieuwe kerk, de plannen dateren van 1963-65 en met de bouw van de kerk werd gestart in maart 1968. De kerk werd in gebruik genomen op 29 november 1969. De bezoeker vindt de zuiverheid van maat en vorm, van lijn en ruimte, van verhoudingen en getallen terug in de kerk zoals ze door Dom. Van der Laan werd ontworpen. Er is ook meubilair ontworpen door Van der Laan.
