De Vrede van Gent werd op 24 december 1814 gesloten tussen de Verenigde Staten van Amerika en het Verenigd Koninkrijk, na de oorlog van 1812. Het verdrag werd ondertekend in Gent. Je vindt nog een gedenkplaat aan het gebouw in de Veldstraat waar de vrede werd onderhandeld. De Amerikaanse delegatie was onder leiding van John Quincy Adams. De Treaty of Ghent werd afgeelsoten op Kerstavond van 1814.
