Haaltert is een plaats en gemeente in de Belgische provincie Oost-Vlaanderen. De gemeente telt ruim 18.000 inwoners. De huidige gemeente Haaltert ontstond in 1977 door samenvoeging van de toenmalige gemeenten Haaltert, Denderhoutem, Heldergem en Kerksken. Ook de helft van het gehucht Terjoden van de toen ontbonden gemeente Erembodegem werd bij de nieuwe gemeente gevoegd. De plaats ligt in de Denderstreek.
