Van 1988 tot 1993 kreeg Schaffen voor één van zijn scholen een beroemde schooldirecteur. Althans, beroemd zou hij zeker later worden. Het was Michel Wuyts. Wuyts is vooral bekend als wielercommentator bij de VRT. Hij neemt onder andere de Ronde van Frankrijk, het wereldkampioenschap en de meeste klassiekers voor zijn rekening, meestal samen met José De Cauwer, soms met Karl Vannieuwkerke. In het veldrijden geeft hij meestal commentaar samen met oud-wereldkampioen Paul Herygers.
