Solwaster ligt op een rotsplateau waar het dorp met bruine stenen zich koestert. De huizen zijn gebouwd met zandsteen of kalksteenblokken, of in vakwerk. Wanneer we door het dorp fietsen zien we lage huizen met smalle vensters en dikke muren, die getuigen van het barre klimaat op dit hoogplateau.
