“Stel u voor dat dit koninklijk paleis in de grond zakt,” zegt Bart Van Loo in mijn oren, “en dat, traag en triomfantelijk, het paleis van Filips de Goede (1396-1467) uit de grond richting hemel rijst.” Ik sta op het Brusselse Paleizenplein te kijken en probeer het neoklassieke kantoor van koning Filip weg te denken en er een luisterrijker, maar verdwenen paleis voor in de plaats te zetten: het legendarische Coudenbergpaleis, de residentie van de Bourgondische hertog Filips de Goede.
