De Slag bij Kortrijk, beter bekend als de Guldensporenslag, werd gevochten op 11 juli 1302 tussen milities uit het graafschap Vlaanderen en het Frans leger onder graaf Artois met een nederlaag voor de Fransen. 500 paar gouden sporen werden op het veld verzameld van de lichamen van Franse ridders en als trofee opgehangen in de Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe Kerk van Kortrijk.
