Op 1 december 2012 opende in Mechelen Kazerne Dossin, een Museum, Memoriaal en Documentatiecentrum over Holocaust en Mensenrechten. Kazerne Dossin is voor België een unieke herinneringsplaats. Als SS Sammellager Mecheln was de kazerne tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog voor meer dan 25,000 Belgische en Noord-Franse Joden en Zigeuners letterlijk een wachtkamer voor de dood. Om huidige en toekomstige generaties de historische betekenis van deze plaats te duiden en thema’s als racisme, uitsluiting en mensenrechten aanschouwelijk te maken, werd een gloednieuw museum gebouwd. De combinatie van het historische verhaal van de Holocaust in België met het thema mensenrechten, maakt van Kazerne Dossin een uniek project. Het ontwerp is van de hand van toparchitect Bob van Reeth.
