In het uiterste westen van de provincie Namen, ligt bovenop een rots aan de samenvloeiing van de Eau d'Heure en de Yves, het versterkte stadje Walcourt. De belangrijkste bezienswaardigheid in dit stadje is ongetwijfeld de Sint-Maternusbasiliek. De toren van deze gotische bedevaartskerk rijst 63 m boven het stadje uit. Binnenin kan men een prachtig oksaal ontdekken uit 1531 en natuurlijk het miraculeuze beeld van Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van Walcourt. Het 10e eeuws houten beeldje behoort tot de oudste uit België.
