Veldekenshof was vroeger een koeienboerderij. Doorheen de jaren hebben de vorige eigenaars er een traditionele brasserie van gemaakt met bereiding van huisgemaakt hoeve-ijs. In 2017 is deze brasserie overgenomen door de stad Turnhout en sociale tewerkstellingsplaats de Troef. Na een serieuze renovatie is deze terug opengegaan op 19 september 2018 als brasserie korte-keten waarbij traditionele gerechten met zo veel mogelijk producten van streekproducten op de kaart staan. Ook het gekende hoeve-ijs wordt nog steeds huisgemaakt. De brasserie is omgevormd tot een opleidingsplaats voor mensen met een achterstand tot de arbeidsmarkt i.f.v. doorstroming naar de reguliere arbeidsmarkt.
