Toppers als Sven Nys, Niels Albert en Kevin Pauwels hebben het veldrijden enorm populair gemaakt in Vlaanderen. In 1988 wordt voor het eerst een B-cross georganiseerd in Ruddervoorde. Vier jaar later krijgt de cross al een A-label en komen alle toppers aan de start. Op de foto zie je de cross van Ruddervoorde.
