Description

Het koninklijk domein van Laken is een enorme groene ruimte met grasvelden, bosjes en vijvers. Het is een belangrijk onderdeel van de ecologische corridor die het kanaal is. Blauwe reigers komen hier hun nesten maken en vis vangen. De reigerkolonie op het koninklijk domein is de grootste van het Brusselse Gewest. Op de stevige takken van grote bomen bevinden zich in totaal zo’n 200 nesten, waarvan sommige zichtbaar zijn vanaf het kanaal. De blauwe reiger is een grote steltloper (84 tot 102 cm lang), met een overwegend grijs verenkleed.
